Transformations - Eugene Milgliaro Corporon and the North Texas Wind Symphony
Simply superb wind ensemble music from the greats. David Maslanka's "Symphony #7" is one of my favorite classical pieces, more so than Mozart and Beethoven's works.
Violator - Depeche Mode
The best of Depeche Mode, in a studio album. Delta Machine is awesome, but "World in My Eyes" is what this blog is named after. This is the best album the group has ever made, and they know it.
The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars -David Bowie
There isn't really a song on here that doesn't fit, which is not something you can say for every album. Bowie's masterpiece is one of the definitive works of classic rock, and one that I know almost all the lyrics too.
Who's Next - The Who
The only person in the world that considers this album to be a failure is Pete Townsend himself, as it is the remnants of his Lifehouse project. While it could have the cheeky subtitle of "Songs from CSI," it is the Who album to own.
The Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd
Life isn't complete without Dark Side. It's as simple as that.
The Force - Robert Stewart
Robert Stewart is a surprising musician. He is little known, but has a sound on the sax like no one else. He probably is the best saxophone player alive today, and this album is a marvelous example of his playing ability.
Songs from the Big Chair - Tears for Fears
I've only seen two bands on this list live, and Tears for Fears is one of them. "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" is easily one of the best songs from the Eighties, and Tears for Fears kept their creativity alive throughout the album.
The Planets - Gustav Holst
Holst's classic is my favorite collection of classical music. "Jupiter" is beautiful with its long melodic sections, showing Holst's composing chops and earning its spot as my favorite piece of classical music.
I Love You. - The Neighbourhood
I discovered this album only a few weeks ago, and have been constantly listening to it. It's sexy and modern, with a slight hip-hop influence that adds character to the songs. The Neighbourhood may become the face of music for this decade, with any luck. The album holds a place in my heart because of a close friend, and it is the soundtrack for both of us.
So - Peter Gabriel
This is classic Peter Gabriel. From "Red Rain" to "This is the Picture," he shows us that he not only can make hits, but meaningful, high quality ones as well.
